Update on the renovations!
Well, we have just chosen a window company, and should be getting our new windows within four weeks or so. Then the renovation company will paint the walls, and we will get our flooring in throughout the upstairs. We have chosen some oak laminate flooring for the livingroom/diningroom and are going to put berber rug throughout the hallway and upstairs bedrooms like we had before.
We have bought a new tub, toilet and vanity top with a built in sink for the downstairs bathroom that is being totally renovated. We have to pay for that, but figured at this point, we might as well since we are down to the cement floor, and no walls right now in the bathroom. We have to go shopping for a new vanity, which the insurance is paying for. I haven't decided on the bathroom color yet - think I'll pick out a pretty shower curtain, and match the color to that. The bathroom should be done within a week or two, and will have a white tile with a fleck of beigy brown in it. We didn't want to go too dark because we have no window in the bathroom or downstairs hallway.
Amidst all the renovations, I came home for lunch today, and was caught up in cleaning Sarah's room before the window man came to measure her window, and forgot I was filling the sink!! I heard some water pouring into the basement...needless to say, my lunch hour was less than relaxing, as I rushed around trying to find some towels to mop it all up. One of our linen closets with the towels was boxed up, and the other had the contents removed, due to dust, and were at the laundromat being cleaned. So I grabbed whatever towels I could find. That was the LAST thing I needed today, but on my way back to work, I sang a few praise choruses, and made a quick stop at Mr. Sub to get me through the afternoon. At least my kitchen floor is clean now!!
My job is going great. I have been keeping quite busy and am getting to know more of the church people gradually. They are a very nice congregation, and treat me well. I have been making lots of flyers, posters, and setting up the bulletins for the next month or so. I am just starting to assist with the Newsletter this month as well, so that gives me a new challenge. The pastor's wife told me that her husband is a new person since I started there - he isn't worried anymore, and is much more relaxed, so I am thankful that he is able to focus more on his ministry without the worries of administrative issues, and phone calls interrupting his study time.
One of the perks of the job is the Seniors luncheon's once a month - they try to outdo one another with the meal, so there is always a wonderful fruit tray, crackers and cheese, salads, desserts, etc. Its a nice treat, and a great chance to get to spend some time getting to know them.
Well, better run for now. Stay in touch!
